Below is a near-complete list of works I have posted over the years, sorted in no particular order.

The above image was taken by MorBCN in 2006, of a bookstore located in De Jordaan, a famously upscale neighbourhood in Amsterdam, Netherlands that is known for housing numerous art galleries, speciality shops, and restaurants.

A Better Place

A series of short stories about the fantastical land of Talamh Dieu, and how twelve different travellers variously cope with the land, their own circumstances, and other adventurers like them. Loosely based on the mythos of Dungeons & Dragons and a real-life campaign I am taking part in, each story in A Better Place features a new lead character interacting with the character introduced in the previous installment; stories, however, aren't strictly presented in chronological order, resulting in foreshadowing and callbacks that may not be immediately apparent in the first read. Started in January 2021 and officially concluded in December 2022.

A Call To Arms

A variety of side stories set outside of the continuity of A Better Place, intended to help flesh out the world and explore a variety of ideas and characters that ultimately were left unused or underdeveloped. While knowledge of A Better Place is recommended, as to notice some further callbacks and understand some contexts of these stories, each story can also be enjoyed on its own. Started in early 2023.

Circle of Magie

A series of fantasy stories about various young sages and mages living and learning magie in Oliviani, a land inspired by the nation of Belgium in the 1890s. Despite their radically different personalities, alongside a number of cultural and language differences, the group learns more than they expect from one another, as well as how their various differences play out in the land they call home. Started in 2019.

Alla Fine

A series of short stories about a few survivors of an unknown cataclysm, and how they learn more about one another as they try to cope with their new lives in an unknown world. Loosely based on the Wuxing, with each story corresponding to one respective "phase." Started in 2018, will likely have 5 parts for each of the 5 phases of the Wuxing.

The Fallen Sky

A novella about two genetic experiments, Raoul and Gladys, fleeing their research facility for a taste of freedom. Almost immediately after absconding, however, Raoul quickly heads back to save one other girl in their facility, an enigmatic child only named "Anna" that seems completely unlike them or any of the other genetic experiments. My first notable writing project, finished in 2012 when I was still a senior in high school. Read it here.

One-Offs

Various short stories written over the years, in chronological order.

  • Seeds of Dread (2016) - A story set in a run-down inner city apartment, focusing on Claire, her eccentric flatmate Johan, and an unusual companion he brings in on one cold night.

  • Those Born In March (2017) - A story about Hiroki Tetsuzou, a Japanese exchange student, and his return home to Japan to meet with his now-distant younger sister, Yaeko.

  • A Pause In The Rain (2018) - A small story about Quinton's walk home one rainy night and one unusual encounter on the wet and dreary streets of the city.

  • To Be Saved (2019) - A story inspired by Hungarian folklore. Focuses on Bartalan abandoning the Dungeon Runners, a large group of loosely-affiliated roguish historians, and venturing out to seek Zoltan in an attempt to find salvation for his own wasted life. Intended to be the start of a series, though that ended up never panning out.

  • Flowers For Amalie (2019) - Some city fiction inspired by run-down parks I've seen in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Shane Baker, whose apartment overlooks a park frequented by ne'er-do-wells, strikes up an odd friendship with Amalie, a traveling flower girl, with Shane and his girlfriend, Eva, electing to try and do something nice for her.

  • Further Down The River (2020) - A story about two scientists traveling through a dense, uncharted, and unexplored forest via raft. On day 10 of exploration, after several days of monotony, the two come across something far more interesting than any of their previous discoveries.

  • For All New Guards (2020) - A quick stream-of-consciousness story about how to survive working a prisoner-of-war camp, consisting of three simple rules for all new guards.

  • The Sudden Raid (2020) - A quasi-sequel to Seeds of Dread, focusing on Claire's attempts to continue her life without her flatmate, and her subsequent unwilling involvement with a police operation that turns her apartment over.

  • To Forgive A Stranger (2021) - A sequel to To Be Saved. Again inspired by Hungarian folklore, it focuses on Renato, a young man from Kishuta who has always wanted to join Zoltan's Quarters and become a Diviner himself. While there, however, he encounters a new face, Bartalan, and Renato ends up learning more about him and his respective past than he ever expected.

  • Photos From Europa (2023) - A science fiction story set hundreds of years in the future, when man has ventured beyond Earth and into the Solar System, albeit with all of mankind's continuing problems. Nolan Gates, a young translator making a living on Mars by assisting refugees found around the Solar System, enters his office for yet another easy day. His first client of the day, however, holds a particularly unusual set of possessions for him to translate.
